Oklahoma State: Another Financial Boone-Doggle

When you skip steps on the way up/ It has a way of catching up -The Donnas, "Fall Behind Me" For those of you who don't keep up with our unintentionally hilarious friends in Stillwater, they have gotten themselves into yet another financial pickle. First, it was the brilliance of T Boone Pickens' hedge fund management.  While the entire OSU Board of Regents were essentially screaming for Randolph Duke and Mortimer Duke Mike Holder and T. Boone Pickens to appreciate that

First of all, I'm extremely happy with this class.   There's no point comparing it with anyone else's class.

Report: Sooners Hire Willie Martinez to Coach DB’s

Posted by NateHeupel on February 1st, 2010 under Football

Link here There's a twist I didn't see coming.  I figured Jeffcoat Sr was the target, but there had been rumblings that the Sooners were going to slide Bobby Jack Wright down to coach DE's, and they would then fill his spot with a DB's coach who actually improved his DB's.  It appears the Sooners have done just that by hiring former Georgia DC Willie Martinez. Martinez reminds me a lot of UT's Duane Akina.  Akina is an

Obama Administration Taking on BCS

I didn’t vote for this president, and am mindful of Joe Barton's (R) role in this, so this isn’t political. Really? Is that what the government should be spending time on? From ESPN

The Strange Story of Corey Nelson

Posted by NateHeupel on January 29th, 2010 under Football

This morning the OUInsider.com website announced that Corey Nelson had switched his commitment to OU.  Sooners' fans were consoled by this news after the news of UT signing Jordan Hicks and Jackson Jeffcoat.  Even TexAgs.com mods were indicating this to be true. Then, things got weird.  OUInsider and ESPN started backing off of their stories.  Later in the morning, TexAgs.com posted a text message from Nelson that said: "I'm not committed to OU and I will remain an

Jeffcoat Delays Decision

Posted by NateHeupel on January 28th, 2010 under Football

h/t to Dallas Morning News, 01/27/10 Apparently, Jackson's official visit to OU, and the following in-home visit with what probably seemed like the entire OU coaching staff, gave him something to think about as he's postponed his decision from the previously scheduled date of January 31st. This can only be good news for OU as he was considered to be all but locked for UT.  That said, I would honestly laugh my ass off if the Red River war for

Recruiting Update (Jeffcoat to UT?)

Posted by NateHeupel on January 20th, 2010 under Football

Rivals is reporting that 4* DE Geneo Grissom from Hutchinson, KS has switched his commit from KU to OU. If accurate, I think you can safely presume that Stoops and Co. have given up on landing Jackson Jeffcoat. That's where this gets interesting. If Jim Jeffcoat is at the top of Stoops' wish list for the d-ends coach position, then filling Jackson Jeffcoat's spot and letting the young man do what it

If you watched the game, and if you have one drop of testosterone in your bloodstream, you couldn’t have missed her. The redhead with huge tracts of land – right behind the KU bench – who stood for every time out and stared at the KU players.

She stuck out like a sore thumb. Never

Bob, essentially what you are saying is that we are not a well coached basketball team. I agree.

Jordan Hamilton is a selfish and lazy player. He is a terrible fit to play for Barnes. Not sure if either one will be around next season at this rate.

We went scoreless for 10:54 during

Well done. The Barney Frank line blindsided me like a strain of juarez clap. Funny stuff.

I’d like for us to go out of state for a QB and at least 1 maybe two CB’s. Is Quandre tall enough to play corner or angry enough to play safety?

    Rumor around the campfire is

    I feel our pain…
Was Barnes wearing a helmet last night. I did not notice as I was in awe of the blood being spilled
on the floor for almost 11 minutes without a point.
Coach Knight was reading this blogs out loud for TV.
The most insightful was that Barnes needs to go to the 7-8

Barney Frank and Mormon quips in the same post. My Tuesday is complete.

Texas HS football is going through a phase (era?) where the best athlete talent is being put on offense. DBs aren’t being developed in vast quantities. Why wouldn’t you go after a couple OOS DBs?

Gillispie’s a mid-major clown because of his off the court indiscretions. Seriously, The University of Texas is much too high profile to risk its brand and image with this moron. And anyone that mentions Augie Garrido should be permabanned the intertubes. The situations aren’t remotely similar.

Leonidas, none of those points came against Dex. Boxscores aren’t reality, they’re like porn movies. If porn was real everyone would be a plummer.

As for Pittman on offense, Aldrich wasn’t playing him straight up, he was getting a double virtually everytime down. That’s not Aldrich’s fault but it’s reality.

It’s funny you should ask. I’m working on putting something together right now that will be discussing this very topic. I know you’re waiting with bated breath for it too. Admit it.

OK, I was there. Not the best seat in the house, but not a bad one either.

Trips hit part of what struck me over and over. KU had offensive options/outlets when Texas forced them into trouble (which happened quite a bit, as the stats showed that Texas did bring defense last night), and the

At least, that’s the line I would expect to hear from Rivals or Scouts if they were in a relationship with Bo Pelini and ended up going to Dr. Phil to try and work out their differences. Of course, that would never happen because Bo would’ve just laughed, packed her shit up, and thrown it

Rivals doesn’t think there are any elite players in Texas this year. Do you think we’ll have to go out of state to compensate?

    Thanks!
