Things To Do While Not Watching OU in the NCAA Tourney

1) Fill out a bracket whilst weeping softly and saying "Damn you for leaving us, Sampson" to no one in particular

2) Recover a small bit of joy at pegging UT for a first round exit after you realize that this is a realistic possibility

3) Rewatch the Sun Bowl

Strange Days Indeed

Posted by NorthDallasSooner on March 9th, 2010 under Basketball

85-97. Eighty five and ninety-seven. That is the collective record of perennial powers UNC, Uconn, Arizona, UCLA, Indiana and Oklahoma. Maybe that’s why I just couldn’t get that interested in this college hoops season. I like the big powers in CFB and hoops. I root for the blue blood programs, except maybe UConn (‘cause them’s Yankees). The problems at Indiana left behind by the cheater are well documented, but should it

Lamenting Josh Howard

Posted by NorthDallasSooner on February 24th, 2010 under Basketball

There’s only one pro sports team that I’m really passionate about. As a lifelong Dallasite you would assume it’s the Cowboys. It’s not. It’s the Mavericks. Which is why I write about, until two weeks ago, my favorite Mavericks player, Josh Howard. This morning we learn that Josh tore his ACL in his fourth game with the Wiz last night and is out for the year. He has been the center of many

Warren out “indefinitely” with Mono!

Posted by NorthDallasSooner on February 15th, 2010 under Basketball

What a year this has been indeed. I had mono once. It certainly explains the lack of energy on the court. Who'll get to the NBA first, Warren or TMG? Let's just get to August, dammit.

Surfing The Interwebs

Posted by NateHeupel on February 12th, 2010 under Basketball

It's a lazy Friday, and we're snowed in here in the DFW.  Texas meteorologists were calling for 4 inches of snow at the most, so clearly we were going to end up with around 8.  I really wish they would stop pretending to put in effort and just put on a hot chick with big tits. Anyway, this gives me time to browse the interwebs and update my faithful readers (all seven

I’m (Not) Lovin’ It

Can someone tell me how it's possible that a team with 3 McDonald's All Americans is 12-9 and flirting with a losing season?

Did We Really Just Get Spanked By Nebraska?

Posted by NateHeupel on January 30th, 2010 under Basketball

My God.  I am legitimately terrified of what teams like KU and Texas are going to do us.  The carnage will be biblical. And don't point to the fact that Baylor beat UT in Austin today.  Trips' coverage of the game makes it sound like even we could beat them if the timing was right. Let me assure you that such is not the case. Simply put, this isn't a team that plays good defense,

OU 60, Baylor 91

Tiny Gallon was our leading scorer.  Jeff Capel has given up on trying to figure out Willie Warren (Capel's words).  This is going to get ugly.

Try and tell Jeff Capel OU isn’t a Basketball School

Posted by Don't Call Me Bill on October 30th, 2009 under Basketball

He isn't listening. Dear OU FANS I have an announcement to make, the days of OU Basketball being viewed as something to do between a bowl game, the last six years a bowl loss, and spring practice is history.

    Pitt rolling Oakland.

Purdue holds on against Siena…I missed it in my bracket, but I’m actually happy for them.

Missouri pulling away from Clemson (68-60) with 7 to play…knew I should have never bet on Oliver Purnell, even if it was against this Missouri team.

Amazingly, game of the day so far might be Wisco/Wofford – 2

The girls don’t wear jorts at Hooters. They dress like Richard Simmons.

That, by the way, was the best thing that’s come out of this basketball season. Knowledge of Magnus’ intimate familiarity with the service and cut-off threshold at Hooter’s as compared to BWW3. Hooter’s — worse food at a higher price than a titty bar, served with jean shorts, cheaper beer, and more stretch

Who thinks that one back could step up and be the go to this year?

I still think it is going to be a by committee approach, but someone could separate themselves this spring. You just never know.

    Basketball:

Texas lost to Wake Forest in the first round last night. Trips Right somehow found the inner strength to do a final post-mortem where he also prescribes a month of defensive drills for baby 2010-11 Texas basketball in order to foster its development into a team that can at least dribble towards the basket.

BigAaron, it’s what Ballerjunkie has been hearing in his circles. The information is certainly not an opinion, but what is out there at this time.

We’ll have more on a weekly basis.

    BiH,

I actually agree with you. I think the charge and missing the two FTs earlier got in his head a bit. Also, he passed to Mason on the possession earlier which I didn’t think made sense. Mason had his pass knocked out of bounds, thankfully, but it seemed strange to me when

Inter got the team everyone wanted, which will more than likely set up a great semifinal against Barcelona. I believe Mourinho will be putting everything into the Champs League now, even if it means sacrificing Serie A.

Hearing Murray Hewitt’s voice never gets old…even if the commercials could use his comedic talent much better.

Cornell is impressive, Temple got fucked with them as a 12.

Turn off the sound and watch the replay of Johnson’s setup and motion shooting the free throws. They never had a chance of going in. After the first one, he sighs heavily, looks up at the ceiling (?), moves his feet nervously and generally gives off the body language of wishing the earth

Trips, thanks for all your posts this season. I don’t always agree with you but that is sort of the point of a blog isn’t it? Your assesments are usually well-written, informative and fair and where else can you find those qualities?

As for the team, I watched a loose, confident and

Why didn’t we call a time out after Wake hit the go ahead jumper?

The clock would have been reset to ~1.5 seconds. Wouldn’t the ball have been advanced to half-court? Or was that rule changed?
