Still the One

The below from soonersports.com….as Mark Twain once famously said, “the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.:

A few quick notes on OU football in college football history now that the 2009 season is complete for the Sooners:

• Oklahoma now has the best winning percentage (.74703) in major college football over the past 75 years (1935-2009). Ohio State is second (.74497).

• OU’s next win makes Oklahoma the eighth program in major college football history to reach 800 wins all-time. OU’s current record is 799-302-53.

• No school in the history of college football has produced more unanimous All-Americans (31). No school has more consensus All-Americans (72) in the modern era (since 1945).

• OU has placed at least one all-conference player on the first team every year since 1926 (84 seasons). In fact, OU has only had one season when playing in a conference without first-team honors (1925). That’s 94 of 95 seasons.

• Oklahoma remains the program with the most 10-win seasons at 31. Alabama now has 30 all-time. OU also has the most seasons (19) with 11 or more wins.

• OU has scored more points (30,987) than any program in major college football history. Michigan is second (29,940) despite playing 61 more games than the Sooners.

• Oklahoma remains the only program to have four head coaches (Owens, Wilkinson, Switzer and Stoops) with more than 100 wins. USC has three and Pete Carroll almost made four, but he leaves the Trojans with a 97-19 record.

• Only four schools have more bowl wins than the Sooners (25). They are Alabama (32), USC (32), Penn State (27) and Georgia (26).

    In any event, the trend shows that when our guys get arrested, they get kicked off the team. When your ‘roid rage heroes get arrested, your AD works with the DA to get them a plea deal to keep them eligible. Or a medical redshirt in the case of Dvoracek. Btw, I notice he just got arrested again for the same drunken, violent shit. Back home in Norman. Keeping Norman normal!

    is complete bullshit. The Clapper didn’t institute the “zero tolerance” policy until UT’s 2007 run at the Fulmer Cup when your roster went balls out in an attempt to embarrass UT. This is certain because Sergio Kindle got arrested in 2007 prior to this policy and made a heck of a contribution this year. Then again, Lamarr Houston was arrested in 2008. Maybe it’s just “they get kicked off the team IF we don’t need them that badly”? I thought that only OU did that sort of thing. More on this later.

    Second, it doesn’t bother you in the slightest that the two major changes coincidental to UT’s rise to prominence are better defensive coordinators and an exponential increase in criminal activity by UT players? Maybe it does, and that’s why we’ve suddenly got such a visceral response out of you.

    Finally, if you live in a world where NCAA violations are worse than having guys on your roster commit crimes, then you are an irredeemably stupid motherfucker. I’d rather have 5 Rhett Bomar’s than 1 Dan Buckner. Do you realize some of these guys are getting tagged for FELONIES while they are actually on scholarship and attending classes at UT?

    What’s more is that your own sainted coach turned a very blind eye to Sergio Kindle’s obvious 2nd drunk driving incident because Kindle’s attorney pulled a fast one on Austin PD. If you think Kindle was really “texting”, please sterilize yourself now and stop thinning out the genepool.

    UT didn’t have nearly the kind of issues it had with criminals and morons on the roster prior to about 2004. In 2005, they won a national championship thanks to Mack’s high character approach of recruiting a functional retard to QB the team. Suddenly, UT is the king kong of the Big 12 in wins and criminals. Has it not occurred to you that there is a significant correlation there? If you don’t think that taking your wins by having actual criminals on the roster makes those wins tainted, then you have no business saying a word on the subject of cheating.

    Here’s just what I could come up with off-hand in terms of UT football players arrested while actively on the roster since 2005:

    I bet you would! Truly hilarious, but I appreciate your (unintended) honesty. ZeroU would dry up and blow away were it not for the hundreds (more likely thousands) of Rhett Bomars who were bought to advance your football fortunes. You HAVE had at least five Bomars for every Buckner and that is what the above record is built on. Thanks for making my point.

    The abject hypocrisy in your rant about Mack is that OU just recruited and facilitated the plea bargain of a guy who kidnapped his girlfriend and held a screwdriver to her throat. They sought and obtained an extra year of eligibility for a guy who beat his buddy with a baseball bat. Your star WR this season was caught stealing gasoline. One of your DT’s was caught stealing a coat from a mall on a bowl game trip. The list goes on and on, so save the sanctimonious lecture bullshit. OU cheats incessantly AND plays criminals.

    An unfortunate consequence of recruiting underprivileged athletes is that some of them do stupid things. It happens everywhere. It’s the CHEATING, stupid! That’s how ZeroU built its inflated record, and at that, no other school can compare. Congratulations on being the best!
